Rafter braces should be installed perpendicular to the roof slope to carry the roof load. Not on an angle such as this. All that is going on here is saving money in lieu of adding a double beam or joist for this brace to properly bear upon.

Secondly, you can see the water drips down the wood beam which will rot it out. When the beam rots out what happens to the brick chimney? There are a lot of issues with this set up
