Avoid Home Problems Before You Buy

Friendswood - A brand new house (1-year inspection) with built in roof leaks. You had to crawl through attic to get to this one. Some inspectors don't crawl through attics. If you aren't at the inspection you won't know.
Attics can't ventilate if the soffit vents are blocked with insulation.
This can lead to a reduced 6-8 year roof life on this new home and void the shingle warranty.
Rafters mis-cut or gapped from the hips.
Dickinson - No purlin brace struts (roof braces) to hold up the roof structure on a finished built home. The windstorm engineer hired by the builder obviously never looked at the home and simply "rubber stamped" it for the sake of money. You could make this this roof structure "wiggle". There are "inspectors" that don't know what roof braces are. You need to check yours.
Friendswood Oaks - Ridge boards have to be sized bigger than the face cut of the rafters. It's code. These rafters can laterally crack down their length as a under-sized ridge board was installed.
